TLC’S 2024 PASSPORT TO NATURE DESIGNED TO CONNECT YOU WITH NATURE

TLC’s 2024 Passport to Nature, designed to connect TLC supporters and the public with nature, is now available for event registration. With opportunities to get your hands dirty while restoring an impacted ecosystem and chances to learn more about TLC’s protected areas, this year’s program will delight those near and far with a variety of accessibility levels.

Today, our team is eager to connect with nature enthusiasts out in the field! TLC’s 2024 Passport to Nature features hands-on naturalist activities in addition to two recorded webinars for those looking to learn and try their hand at skills in their own time. We are launching our program with an in-person Park Restoration (April 20) featuring the TLC, HAT, and CRD protected Ayum Creek Regional Park Reserve. If you’re looking to get into the field with us, you may be interested in our other in-person events including a Broom Bash at Second Lake (May 25), our Intertidal Zone event (June 23) at Clover Point, a pollinator planting day, Welcome Back Monarchs, at our Fort Shepherd Conservancy Area (October 5), a restoration event at our Alston-Stewart Estate with the Greater Victoria Green Team (October 26), and a Mushroom ID Walk at our Millstream Creek Watershed Property (November 9) featuring experts Andy MacKinnon and Kem Luther.

More familiar to previous participants, our Spring Plant Sale (April 27 and 28), Grandparents Day and Fall Plant Sale (September 8), and Festive Market (December 14 and 15) will offer visitors the chance to explore Abkhazi Garden, a beautiful heritage garden and offer you the opportunity to pick up a plant to add to your own backyard. TLC’s Annual General Meeting (September 28) will include reports from the Chair, Treasurer, and our Executive Director about TLC’s projects and programming from the previous fiscal year.

For those looking to join us virtually, you can register for one of two new naturalist-themed recorded webinars featuring TLC staff. In our Scavenger Hunt (July 20), Lisa Cross will share a fun and educational adventure for all ages. Sherry Beauvais will explore Rainwater Management (August 15) and offer techniques to manage this precious resource through various catchment, storage, and conveyance systems.
