Abkhazi Advisory Board

Abkhazi-by-Jeff-de-Jong-300x225 Abkhazi Garden is one of the most important properties owned by TLC The Land Conservancy of British Columbia (TLC). Acquiring the Garden in the year 2000 was a community effort that successfully rescued this invaluable site from bulldozers and townhouse development.

TLC appreciates the many supporters who have contributed to the success of the Garden. The Garden exists today in its pristine state because of all the remarkable individuals who have given so much of their time and expertise. The Abkhazi Advisory Board (AAB) was created to provide valuable support and guidance to TLC in its management of Abkhazi Garden.

Any individual or group is welcome to bring ideas forward to the Abkhazi Advisory Board. We look forward to working together in a cooperative effort to support and nurture the cherished legacy of Peggy and Nicholas Abkhazi.

Meetings of the Advisory Board are held every two months. The AAB will consider all matters that affect the operation of the Garden, and make recommendations to the TLC Board. Topics for consideration may include but are not limited to the visitor experience, repairs and maintenance, events, fundraising, community involvement and volunteerism.

To preserve the legacy of Peggy and Nicolas Abkhazi in the garden that love built.

Vision

To feature an oasis of tranquility in an urban setting, by respecting the geological characteristics and topography of the site, with plantings that reflect the Abkhazi’s love of form and texture.
