40.8 hectares on Salt Spring Island
Covenanted in 2008
This covenant property constitutes a significant portion of the undeveloped St. Mary’s Lake watershed. As such, it has immense value in terms of protecting water quality of the lake and local aquifers. The majority of the property is forested and is part of a larger contiguous area of forested land. Due to the size and nature of the forested area, it is valuable in terms of wildlife habitat, particularly since it contains numerous old growth Douglas-fir. Oregon grape and arbutus, plant species’ that are considered sensitive, can also be found within the covenant.
