4.45 hectares located in Courtenay, covenanted in 2002
The property was donated to the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) as an ecological gift with the reservation of a life interest in favour of the donors, Brian and Sarah McLoughlin. A registered covenant will restrict the use of the property to public park use and includes provisions to maintain the site in its natural condition in perpetuity. The property is not currently open to the public until the CVRD has finalized its management plan. The property includes a forested upper bench with a steep slope down to a lower bench. The forest is primarily second growth Douglas Fir, with association vegetation. There is a small cabin close to the ocean and surrounding perennial gardens.
More information on the McLoughlin’s donation is available on the Comox Valley Regional District’s website.
