9.8 hectares in Sooke
Covenanted in 2010

This covenant property, located on the west side of the Sooke River is primarily composed of second-growth forest and several open meadow/rock outcrop patches within the Coastal Western Hemlock biogeoclimatic zone. The majority of the property was last logged in 1954. The open meadow/rock outcrop areas likely include rare ecosystems and species, as they have not been previously disturbed and remain in a near-pristine condition. There are a few large old-growth Douglas fir trees on the property, as well as one unique Garry oak tree. The Homer property contributes connectivity to the Sooke Potholes Regional Park Reserve, as well as other large protected areas within the Sea-to-Sea Regional Park Reserve, Sooke Mountain Provincial Park and Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park Reserve. The Homer McCrea Covenant area protects significant ecological diversity and landscape features.
