Passport to Nature: Fort Shepherd Conservancy Area
September 16, 2021
Presented by Karen Iwachow, TLC’s Environmental Technician & Land Manager
Fort Shepherd Conservancy Area is TLC’s gem of the west Kootenays. This historically and culturally rich 2200 acre habitat is home to 29 rare species. Fort Shepherd has seen and experienced many impacts from human use in the area and yet continues to thrive under stewardship of TLC. With the largest intact area of very dry, warm interior Cedar Hemlock in British Columbia, Fort Shepherd is ecologically unique. Learn more about this special place and the work we do there!
