Happy Holidays!

As the end of the calendar year approaches, I wanted to reach out and share a brief update. This fall we launched our Millstream Creek Watershed project. If you’re unfamiliar, you can read more about the acquisition campaign on our website and in our fall LANDmark article. The property is 27-acres of Coastal Douglas-fir ecosystem (CDF) in the District of Highlands on southern Vancouver Island. Having visited the property numerous times, I can attest to the awe-inspiring diversity of species present. Each visit I’ve been lucky to catch a glimpse of wildlife in their element – always such a wonderful reminder of the importance of conservation.

Your response to the campaign this fall has astounded us! With the support of a federal grant and a generous anonymous donor matching funds 4:1, we have now raised more than $600,000 for the acquisition. We know it has been difficult for many TLC supporters as the impacts of COVID-19 ripple through all areas of our lives. Despite all that you have been going through, you have shared your concern about this critical habitat. Thank you! Please stay tuned in the new year when we can share a special announcement about this property.

We have another ground-breaking project currently in the works. Partnering with some new and some familiar faces, we are thrilled about the conservation initiatives around the corner. I look forward to sharing details with you early next year.

On behalf of TLC’s staff and board, thank you again for all of your support this year. If you are still planning on making your year-end gift, please visit our website www.conservancy.bc.ca/donate. Donations made online or postmarked December 31 are eligible for 2020 tax receipts.

Wishing you a safe and happy new year,

Dianna Stenberg
