TLC holds covenants on properties which have active volunteer groups which we encourage you to join.
Welland Legacy Orchard, located in View Royal close to Victoria General Hospital, hosts volunteer work parties every other Sunday. Activities include pruning, weeding and orchard maintenance. The orchard contains over 100 varieties of apples and quince, plum, kiwi and grapes. To get more information on work parties, please visit the Welland Legacy Park and Orchard’s Facebook Page.
Havenwood Park is a beautiful forest park in Colwood on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway. The Friends of Havenwood Park and Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) (the covenant co-holder with TLC) organize regular work parties to control invasive species and plant native species. To get involved, please contact HAT at 250-995-2428.
Not sure if you want to commit to a regular group, or want to visit a variety of properties? The Greater Victoria Green Team offers multiple work parties at a variety of locations throughout the Capital Regional District.
Past events have been held at TLC’s properties and covenants, including Welland Orchard, Havenwood Park, the Annual Highlands Broom Bash, and Maltby Lake. Visit the Greater Victoria Green Team’s webpage or sign up for an event by joining their MeetUp page.
I am interested in membership and volunteering. My husband and I have some experience in monitoring archaeology sites in Arizona as volunteers. Would like something closer to home–Victoria .
