NEWS RELEASE: TLC ANNOUNCES 2019 PASSPORT TO NATURE EVENTS

Victoria, BC – TLC is pleased to announce its’ 2019 Passport to Nature Program.  The Program has expanded in its second year to include 13 FREE events throughout 2019.

Designed to connect TLC Members, donors and the public with nature, TLC’s Passport to Nature events include restoration activities on TLC’s conservation covenants, a tour of Abkhazi Garden, a Bird Walk, an introduction to outdoor portrait photography and much more!

Expert presenters including TLC staff, volunteers and partners will share their knowledge of ecosystem health, native and invasive species identification and hands-on gardening skills.  Featured presenter Kem Luther, bryologist and author of “Boundary Layer”, will lead participants in Identifying mosses on a Moss Walk on Saturday, December 7^th and a Mushroom ID Walk on Wednesday, October 30^th.

TLC’s first Passport to Nature event of the year will be hosted on Sunday, March 17^th from 10 a.m. to noon at TLC’s Packford Covenant.  Participants will learn about lichen, what they are, what they are doing and why, from naturalist Juliet Pendray.

Those who love the blossoms of Abkhazi Garden are sure to enjoy two special workshops with Abkhazi Garden’s Head Gardener Jo Wyld: Deadheading and Seed Collecting on Friday, October 11^th and Wreath Making on Friday, November 22^nd.  Partnering with TLC this year to expand the Passport to Nature are Nanaimo & Area Land Trust, Mary Lake Nature Sanctuary, and The Bateman Foundation’s Nature Sketch.
