Joy Kogawa
Vancouverites voted and the Historic Joy Kogawa House was nominated as one of the 125 historic sites that matter courtesy of the Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s (VHF) Places That Matter. The project, celebrating Vancouver’s 125th birthday, asked the public to help identify sites commemorating people, places and events that have helped shaped the city.
Joy Kogawa herself was in attendance to uncover a commemorative plaque at an event held on June 26. Check out these great photos from the event, courtesy of Monica Miller.
I believe that the Historic Joy Kogawa House is one of the most important properties that TLC has been involved in. The property is alive with events and a vital part of many Vancouver communities. It is exactly what a ‘special place’ means to me.
