Calling all art lovers and artists who have been participating in the Artists in the Garden Program!
There will be an art fundraiser held at the Abkhazi Garden throughout the late summer and fall. Featured art will be original pieces from local artists. 50% of the proceeds will go to TLC, while the other 50% will go to a talented artist.
If you signed up to participate in the Abkhazi Garden Art Fundraiser throughout June and July, please note that your art submissions will be accepted via online to be juried from August 15th to 22nd. Please submit artwork to Cherie Miltimore at volunteer@conservancy.bc.ca. Art submissions should meet the following requirements:
- You may submit up to 3 works for consideration.
- Artwork must be original, have been either created plein air in the garden or be an image of some part of the garden in the studio.
- The Teahouse has limited space for hanging so medium to small sizes are encouraged (no larger than 30” in finished width with frame). Please submit photographs of your work with the medium and anticipated finished size if framing. No work needs to be framed for jurying.
- If accepted, all art must be either framed or in a canvas, have the edge finished, and be ready to hang with wire. Please do not use sawtooth hangers.
- Please include the attached form on the back with the required information.
- Elaine Morton, BFA, former member of the Stinking Fish Studio Tour will be the juror.
On Monday, September 6th there will be a public showing of art and art sales in the garden from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We ask artists to set up easels with art for the day and to be in attendance. At 4 p.m., artwork will be taken into the teahouse and gift shop for hanging.
From Tuesday, September 7th to October 11th, the artwork will hang in the Teahouse and Giftshop.
On Monday, October 11th, there will be a public viewing of the art in the Teahouse, which is the last day of the art show. Artists should then collect their artwork at the end of the day between 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 12th, artists should collect any remaining work.
We thank you for your participation and support!
