Sooke Hills Covenant 2016-06-08T23:19:48+00:00

2310.8 hectares in Sooke
Covenanted in 2004

The Sooke Hills are located west of Victoria between the communities of Langford, Metchosin, and Sooke. They form a spectacular backdrop to the City’s landscape. This property is part of TLC’s vision to create the Sea to Sea Blue/Greenbelt. This property will complete a critical link between Sooke Hills Wilderness Regional Park and Sooke Mountain Provincial Park. There are 610 ha of forested hills on the northern boundary of Sooke Mountain Provincial Park; 768 ha on the park’s southern boundary; and also an area along the Galloping Goose Regional Trail at Sooke Basin. Other features include Mt. Manuel Quimper (and many of the other Sooke Hills); three beautiful lakes – Grasse, Shields and Crabapple; large sections of both Ayum Creek and Charters River valleys. Protection of this land has been supported for years by a broad alliance of conservation groups who hope to create a 200 sq.km. corridor of permanently protected land and marine area on the western boundary of the Capital Region.
