Help clear broom from our community! Our roadsides, local parks and new Community Hall site all need attention!

In honour of “de-broom week”, TLC and the Highlands District Community Association are hosting a community Broom Bash Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will begin at the Highlands Community Hall, 729 Finlayson Arm Road, to coordinate the focus areas.

If possible please bring your own tools and gloves so that donated pairs will go further. Volunteers with pickup trucks are encouraged to bring them along to help out with transporting broom back to the Community Hall where it will later be chipped and composted.

If you can not make it out for the Broom Bash weekend, we encourage you to cut broom from your property and leave it on the roadside for weekend pickup. Call Bob McMinn at 250-478-4403 or email bobmcminn@shaw.ca to let him know where to pick up before Friday, April 29.
