THE LAND CONSERVANCY OF BC APPOINTS NEW ACTING CHAIR
AND VICE-CHAIR TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 3, 2014

Victoria, BC – The Board of Directors of The Land Conservancy of BC has appointed Briony Penn as Acting Chair and Frances Pugh as Acting Vice-Chair. Bill Pearce and Joan Tarrant were also appointed to the Board this month.

Pearce joins the Board with a background in law and experience as the Director of Civil Litigation for the Attorney General of B.C. Tarrant, an accountant, has experience auditing non-profit organizations.

The appointments follow the resignations of Alastair Craighead and Nitya Harris, both of whom left for personal and work related reasons. A third director, Mary Sanseverino, completed her elected term on the Board this month.

“We wish to thank Al, Nitya and Mary for their unwavering support for the organization,” said Briony Penn. “They have dedicated an enormous number of hours. TLC is a volunteer board and demands on the directors have been significant throughout the CCAA process. We understand that this level of support couldn’t go on forever.”

“I believe in the principles of the organization,” said Alastair Craighead. “The entire Board does. We’ve all put in a great deal of time towards resolving TLC’s financial issues and putting the organization on a solid financial footing. ”

“I have enjoyed working with this very dedicated and committed Board,” added Nitya Harris. “We are looking forward to seeing TLC successfully come through this process.”
